NOT WAREZ. Settle down, Warez-cops.

What I need is something that can record everything that happens on the screen in a movie format. --Kinda like a screenshot, but it records the MOTION, and saves it as a quicktime, or AVI or whatever. I don't want to use a TV-out and record it with a VCR, as I plan to use the video in a piece I will edit in Media100, so I want to keep it pure digital. I know the software exists.... So does anyone know what it's called, or what I should look for/where to look?

thanks,

Ricky

Not sure if this will help, but microsoft used to have an add on to their office suite called "camcorder". You could record actions on the desktop and then send it to someone to play back.

This was quite useful in my office to give quick tutorials in how to do misc. tasks.

Hmmmm....

I have Office 2000... The BIG version, with 4 CDs. I wonder if it's included in that? I'll have to check it out. I just found something called "camtasia" at Techsmith.com, and it looks OK. I'm just concerned about framerate and quality...
Thanks a ton for your reply. Having used it, maybe you can tell me....how was the framerate of the recordings? Was it pretty decent?

Well, if you want the file size to be in the realm of halfwaydecentness, you probably wouldn't want your desktop at 1024x768 :)

Camcorder came with our office 97 suite, the framerate was not that great but was workable. Not sure if its in 2000. Looks like you will find something that will work for what you want to accomplish.
