Need to find out how much memory is in a Cisco 2611 Router

Keep in mind that I have no idea how these things work. I have only the router and the power cable, although I have plenty of ethernet cables.

Boot up the router, go to the enable prompt (at the "Router>" prompt, type in "enable" and press enter, the prompt should change to "Router#" --- or it may have a name asigned, the important part is the "#" is enable mode).

At the Router# prompt, type in "Show Version".

The output wil give you memory count (flash and ram) and the hardware list (how many of what kind of interfaces).

If you don't understand the output, cut & paste it into another post here.

hook up the router to a computer with a console cable and use hyperterminal.

I think you can use show version from the user mode prompt. That ends in >

He could always pop the top on the router, pull out the modules and then do a google search on the model number of the module. Then tally the total of each module.

All I have is the router and a power cord. In case it isnt obvious, Im trying to sell it, not do anything with it.

Theres no way I could connect it to my linksys router, and access it over ethernet? Otherwise Ill probably have to open it up and manually count the chips.

Do you live near a community college or university that offers cisco networking class. If you brought it in someone would likely hook it up and tell you.
Otherwise I'll give you $50 for it, as is.

Im assuming the password is either clear or the standard. How exactly would I telnet in?

Looking to get $400 for it. The going value is a bit higher than that on ebay, but it would help to know the amount of memory.

hook a console cable to the router, the other end to your PC running a terminal program. 9600 8N1 for the settings.

power cycle the router - tells you how much memory/flash.
