At the command prompt: "tracert www.yahoo.com"

Then one of the last ip's that your school owns should be a firewall. The last should be the router on your end. Just remember that circumventing security measures like a firewall a felony and you could get kicked out of school or worse for committing such crimes.

from a pc behind the school's firewall Go Here and click "Test My Shields". The only problem is, if your school is very weird and actually have a qualified non-brain damaged netadmin with a firewall that has good logging, they might find out about this and it's a firewall security site and they may think you'r just trying to find an exploit.

Earth to Tibbs...Earth calling KBTibbs...

Circumventing policy IS an exploit.

That's not entirely accurate. Circumventing/bypassing your network's security is perfectly legal even though it probably breaks the school's policies (and may get you booted). For example, on the network I'm currently on using a personal proxy server you set up at home instead of useing theirs is legal, just against their rules. Now cracking/hacking the network is something entirely different and is protected by computer intrusion laws.

Ok, the way I read the laws that would not be permissable. I almost remember the word "circumventing" which would include the use of proxies. Either way, he should get his ass booted off the network.

thank you people for the help. i'm not trying to do any ilegal things i just want to be able to change my port # on morpheus cause they are blocking port 1080. thanks again

Do you realize how ridiculous that staement sounds. Don't you think they block that port for a reason??

I'll bet they don't want the entire university running Morpheus. Just like all the universities that blocked Napster.

It's amazing how slow a universities pipe can be when everyone is streaming music and movies.
