Need to find an AM2 CPU

I have a Asus M2N32-SLi Deluxe motherboard that has been sitting around the office for a while, and I was going to put it to use for something, but I need a CPU for it. It has an early BIOS (We got this board right when they first came out), so I will need an older CPU (89w AMD CPU) to be compatible with the board, according to Asus' CPU support page.

Anyone know where I can get one of these older AM2 chips for real cheap (searched the FS/FT forum), or do you know if I can use one of the newer chips anyways and just upgrade the BIOS? Most of the chips I have found on newegg and elsewhere are the 65w and lower chips, and accoring to Asus they need one of the newer BIOS's to run. And maybe I am having a stupid moment here, but even if I got one of those, I dont see how I would upgrade the BIOS without having a supported CPU.

Thanks for any input.

Is the bios chip removable? Do you have a motherboard with the same chip ( I don't think it matters the platform - Intel or AMD )?

You can try hot flashing the chip - boot into DOS on the motherboard, pry out the chip, put in the M2N32 chip, force flash the bios, replace the old chip.

No motherboard with the same chip, this is the only AM2 board we have (the rest of the boards we have now are intel branded motherboards).

For what we have in mind, we would only need a low-end AM2 chip, but finding one that is compatible with the 0203 BIOS for sale somewhere is eluding me.

before you buy that chip try the asus boards and also the motherboards section here to see if anybody else has been able to use a newer cpu with teh m2n32-sli deluxe. that's a kickass mobo and could possibly at least get you to post so you can flash the bios on a newer cpu.

The board supports a lot of the newer CPUS, just the BIOS that is on it right now does not - and we dont have a compatible chip to put in the thing to get it to POST and install the latest BIOS.

This is going to be for an employee machine at work, so speed and overclockability arent that much of a concern. That board has just been sitting on the shelf since it was released and we figured we might as well find a use for it.
