Need to disable dial up networking

Leros

Lifer
I've setup my cell phone to act as a dial up modem for when I'm away from internet access. The problem is that when I have internet access and a webpage times out, the connect dialog for the dial up modem pops up. This is really annoying when I'm browsing sites like digg.com where half the links are dead.

Is there some way to disable the bluetooth modem when I am not using it?

I'm using Windows XP.

In the dial-up preferences I have disabled auto-dial. But it still pops up and asks me if it is ok to dial. I can't find any setting to completely turn off the connection.

It would be nice to simply disable the dial up connection like I can disable a LAN connection.

got to the device manager while the phone is plugged in and select properties for the modem then choose do not use this device from the drop down menu at the bottom of the dialog box.

I've gone to device manager. Under the modem section it has "Bluetooth modem" and "Standard modem". I have disabled both of them, but the connection dialog still pops up.

And yes, I have restarted the computer.

looks like you may have to uninstall the modem then reinstall when you need it again or delete the dial up connection

Thats what I'm currently doing, but I consider it an unacceptable solution. Installation and configuration takes about 10 minutes, which is a ridiculous amount time considering I want to use this to quickly check the internet when I'm away from an internet connection.
