Need to cut beer can out of picture

Can this be done with Irfanview? If not what program can I do this with. I want to cut a beer can out of the background and paste some wood grain in the place of it so it looks like a wall
 
GIMP's clone tool....or what do they call it there, "Paint using Patterns or Image Regions," brought up by pressing C.
