Trying to get someone old laptop online. It has windows 95. A PCMCIA Lan Card. And no driver disk.

I found the files from the manufacture website.

http://www.3com.com/swd/jsp/user/result.jsp?selected=5&sort=effdt&sku=3CXE589DT&order=desc

The laptop only has a CD drive.

I copied these to a cd but when I run the exe file it only tells me some error about LICENSE.TXT and won't go any further.

Any help?

This laptop is an old Toshiba Satellite 200CDS

You can try one of two things:

First, see what happens if you try and install without the License.txt file

Next, that License.txt can be edited and resaved using Notepad or similar.
Open it up, see what is in it that is balking and modify it. Then try installing
it again.

Also Toshiba has all the old drivers here:

http://ftp.toshiba.ca/support/download/files_Archive/Index/display_drivers.htm

You need to search thru and get the ones you require.

Apparently the .EXE file points to the LICENSE file as part of its process. This seems like one of the old copy protection schemes at work. In its orignal format, the license.txt file may have been on the floppy as well.
