Need to cool my system down

My internal case temp is hovering around 55^C on a full load. This is too hot, especially when the Prescott 3.4Ghz is topping out at 60^C. The outside of my Lian Li case is literally hot to the touch. The reason its this warm now is because after I moved apartments, I now have to pay for electricity. So we pretty much keep it turned off until the hotter summer months. At night, its not an issue, the ambient temperature will drop into the low 70^Fs, high 60s^F. But during the day, things can get pretty toasty.

One of these can be used for additional exhaust in the rear of the system, but I need more air intake in the front. At present, its just twin 92mm fans at the bottom of the case.

I have one open 5 1/4in bay open, and was thinking about sticking in some of of intake cooling mechanism. I was looking at this, but I'm not sure if this will do the job. It looks like it will draw air from below or above the fans, and not from the outside of the case like I need. Another possibility Still doesn't look like it'd bring air into the case from outside as effectively.

Any advices?

I think you need exhaust more than you need intake.. Your case is getting so hot because hot air is not being moved out of the system.

What you need to do is ensure that you have an exhaust fan (or fans) blowing sufficient volume of air out the back, and that you have a well-vented PSU.

The two front fans will move alot of air if they are unobstructed. I modded the front bezel on my first Lian Li because it had tiny holes at a right angle in front of the fans and severely restricted them. I have another later version that didn't need any modding to get good airflow. You need to stick with the front fans for intake because with good rear exhaust, they will pull in cool air and force it up and out over your CPU. One good way to test the front is to remove the bezel and see what effect it has on cooling. If your temps go down substantially, you need to open the front up a bit.

Right now, I'm running it with the side panel off. The case temp dropped to 35^C and the CPU temp tops out at 49^C.

There you go. With the panel off and you are seeing such a huge drop in the case temps, that's a sure sign hot air is not being moved out of the case when you had the panel on.

Improve your exhaust (exhaust case fans and PSU), and make sure you got a source of fresh air intake to balance what's going out, clean up your cables and internal case circulation, and you should see your case temps drop.

Which proves you don't have enough ventilation...but you kinda knew that ;) My PC65 runs hotter with the side off because I have a nice blast from the two inlets in front up to two exhaust fans in the rear. Put the side back on and pull your front bezel off and see if affects the airflow/temps. Before I modded my older model, I could place my hand at the rear exhaust and there was a noticeable drop off in airflow when I put on the front bezel.

Its kinda hard to clean up my cabling in this system. Its a Lian Li mid tower, I forget the model number, but its got 3 DVDROM drives, 2 SATA drives, and 1 IDE hdd in it. Factor in all the cables to the motherboard and from the PSU, and its pretty cluttered. For now, I guess I'll leave the side panel off. When I've got some time to mess around again, I'll try running it without the front bezel, see what happens.

I intend to buy a full tower Lian Li case for my next major upgrade, but that is several months off. :( A full tower will make it a bit easier to organize my cabling.
