Need to connect my Pioneer receiver to my TV...

... just to get to the receiver's setup menu. The receiver (VSX-1021k) has several video out options, none of which are in use now, but there is one HDMI shaded gray, marked "Out" that I assume will work. Anyone had any experience with this setup? Checked the manual, but the section on using the menu says nothing about what hookups you need to get to it. TIA.

I've only used Onkyo and Yamaha but they all work the same way. Hook up your TV to the HDMI out on the receiver and you can access the OSD for the receiver setup.

The HDMI Out is the one you want to use. It's the video pass-through and OSD output.

As far as I know, you need a Pioneer Elite to get an OSD on the analog outputs.

Does your Pioneer not have a front LCD to use the menus without having a display connected? That's how my Yamaha works, if I don't have my TV connected/on, I can still use the menu via the front panel LCD.

One thing most ignore, check your tv menu and choose the input number or whatever the hdmi plugs into so that the signal is complete otherwise you will likely get something like ... no signal.
