This is one of the weirdest problems I've had in a while. My main machine runs Win2K SP3, and runs at 1024x768 @ 75Hz. A week or so ago, I installed a game that ran fullscreen at 640x480 @ 120Hz. I alt-tabbed out of the game to do something, then couldn't get back into it. When I alt-tabbed out, everything was at 640x480. I went into task manager and killed the game, then changed my resolution back to 1024x768. Everything seemed fine.
When I rebooted my machine the next day, Windows loaded in 640x480. Most of the time when I boot my machine now, Windows loads at 640x480. However, sometimes Windows loads at the correct resolution (1024x768 @ 75 Hz). This is a pain in the ass, because I login, then I have to go to my display settings, change the resolution and refresh rate, and apply it. It's not too bad, but it's a minor annoyance that shouldn't be there.
So...anybody have any ideas on what would be causing this or how to remedy this? I haven't opened the game since this all happened, so I doubt that's causing the problem. Is there a registry key or something somewhere that specifies the default resolution Windows starts in?
Thanks a bunch,
Jacob
