After having a good bit of theft on our lot we had some video equipment installed.
Unfortunately we didn't know that the lenses on the cameras we bought (not cheap stuff either) wouldn't clearly make out a license plate from forty feet away.

What I need is help finding software that can clean up the pictures, I have tried a couple of different Adobe products but that is all I know, anyone able to suggest a good software package that might help?

Wow welcome to the forums, sorry to hear that you lost some things.

Hmm I use Paint Shop Pro 8© for all my image needs... they probably have a newer version out now. Also you might want to check out this thread right here for some great apps as well. Good luck in catching your thief... maybe you should play some Thief© just for fun afterwards. Peace!

Your finished image is only gonna be as good as your captured image.

Might be worth you fitting telephoto lenses

I'd imagine the market for expensive cameras would plummet if you could load any digital image and "clean it up". :p

The final image is as "sharp" as you're going to get, any kind of photo editing to sharpen the image is just artifical tampering. On top of which, if you give police a picture of a licence plate and tell them you've edited it for "readability", I think they'd just laugh in your face.

I had a feeling that you can't just make a picture better. I know you can't do it like they do in the movies but I was hoping for something.
I just set all the cameras to their highest settings, so we'll see what happens

Thanks for the help
