I need to pickup a few vocal mics for my music room.

I don't need high end mics, just mics that aren't shitty. I'm a big fan of Carvin stuff, and they have a deal for 3 mics for $99.

These mics will be used for jams and practice. I already have a couple of better quality mics (audix) that I use for recording. I need some beater mics.

The mic has good reviews and on some forums they were saying it's nearly as good as the Shure mic's that sell for about $100 a piece. For $100, I can get 3 of these mics. I was hoping to find some for $50 a pop and get 2 as I don't really want to spend more than $100 total.

Is there a better deal out there? Any advice?

I'm old school (literally) and nothing is close to the versatility and durability of the Shure mics. I have two SM58's - one that I had for years that been beaten to death, left out in the rain, name it and it's still going strong. I still record with it. If you're going to spend any money make sure it's something that fits YOUR needs though. The 58's fit mine but yours might be different.

I could not agree more with the post above. The SM58 is incredible and even if you don't want something super high end I would STILL go with the SM58 for durability/reliability. They're incredibly versatile and you can find them fairly cheap on eBay.

I was just going to recommend the SM58 as well. They are pretty much an industry standard and often used by pros. You're looking at paying a bit over 100 bucks for one, so they arn't that cheap, but they're worth looking into, and maybe you can find a dealer that will give you a deal if you buy multiple.

Our band uses the SM58s as well. Don't know why you would want different mics for practice and recording when good quality mics will cover all bases.
