Need to buy Business presentation projector, laptop, and screen

Hey all, I'm pretty new to ATOT, so bear with me.
My company needs to buy a few things and I've come here for some help with decisions.

First of all, we need a laptop for presentations. We'd like to spend no more than 2500 and are interested in a company like dell for their warranty and support. just as good as PC graphics are necessary (not gaming, but image quality). We will be presenting radio ads, tv ads, newspaper ads, as well as other media types of advertising from this laptop in the business room, so keep that in mind! help with suggestions please.

Second, we need a projector to display these images, as well as a screen. Starting with the screen, It needs to be stored cylindrically, and come out horizontally. it will be clipped onto the end of the table somehow, or we could put it on a presentation stand, not sure at this point. Now to the projector! It needs to have RGB input, as well as component and s-video. We want to be able to hook it up to DVD players, TV's, as well as the new laptop we'll be purchasing. 16x9 and 4x3 projection is necessary. Thanks for your help in advance

If you will carry this notebook to different locations, you should consider a subnotebook / ultraportable from IBM, Toshiba, or Dell. These are 3-4 pounds instead of the 6-8 pounds for a normal laptop.

For video playback and slides / powerpoint, any laptop will have good graphics since those use only 2D display (not the 3D game graphics that require a better graphics chip).

Speed-wise anything you can buy new should be fast enough for great video playback. You might make sure to get 512 MB of RAM though.

it will also be outputting high res imagery from quark and a number of other formats. I want to make sure the laptop has all the proper input/output, as well as the projector having that. I have ~2500 for the laptop, ~3000 for the projector, and not sure about screen price.

Quark is also 2D not 3D, so the graphics card is not a factor. With that high of a budget I'd probably go with an IBM since the build quality, customer support, and user satisfaction are all higher than Dell and Toshiba. Prices are slightly higher too, but you should find a very nice model under $2500.

ok, I guess I'll just say it like this, we want the best laptop with the most features and best support that 2500 can get us.
and we have 3000 to spend on a projector, again, would like to be able to watch presentations on it, commercials, look at building diagrams, and even watch a movie or two.
we need a 4x3 screen that can clip onto the end of a glass table, won't want it bigger than 60" diagonal.

any and all opinions/thoughts/recommendations are appreciated

My work has had a viewsonic projector since 1999, and it has worked very well.
Check out this Viewsonic projector. It's under 3k, does HDTV, has all of the hookups you require, 2300 ANSI Lumens which I think is very good, and resolution of 1024x768.

For projection screens, you'll probably want to check out Da-Lite

You can get a nice laptop for 2500 dollars. But I think any laptop will work for your requirements. It just depends on what kind of service contract you will want. You'll probably want a laptop display resolution that equals the resolution of the projector you'll be buying.

I'd like it if someone could help me out by explaining the difference with the x1 and some of their models, the LP650 and coach lp120. they're both 3x the amount, and seem to be lacking in features. and movies aren't a priority at all, so I don't think a cinema model would be necessary. but the x1 is so much cheaper, I'm looking at it thinking it's a viable option.

For HDTV, the X1 does a good job. I have this projector at work also as a backup. I've used it for a presentation from a laptop also, and it just wasn't as good of quality as my old viewsonic projector. The X1 native resolution is 800x600, which probably is the cause. If I were you, i'd do some side by side comparisons at a B&M store that sells projectors and choose which one you like.

I wonder if, short of buying a projector, there's a way that I could test them on some of the things I'd do with em
maybe i should use company budget (and get company tax writeoffs) and buy 3 of em and compare everything.

I haven't used an X1 for presentation purposes. But I do have one at home for watching TV and it does a fantastic job for that. For the price it simply can not be beat.

At work I have a couyple infocus lp450z or something like that. They are 800x600 native and can try to do 1024 but the image is all wacky and the text doesn't display properly. I have never tried with the x1 but I suspect it would be the same. If I were buying new projectors at work I would look for something at least 1024x768 native.

But for home theatre the x1 rocks. Oh and if your looking for projector info go to www.avsforum.com
