When would you guys suggest would be a good time to buy a PC? My sister is in need of one by this coming September, since I am taking the main one off to college. I want to get a PC with all the coupons I can add on together with the dell checkout system, to get more for the money. Any ideas?

P.s. didn't know where to post it, so I just posted here.

if you can build one yourself, go ahead and build one. you'll get a much better performance system for your money.

If you're going with Dell, be aware that for most of their systems (especially the cheaper ones) many components cannot be replaced/upgraded unless you buy them directly from Dell...and they WILL charge you the leg as well as the arm. The most notorious would be the mobo and PSU.

With that said: keep an eye out at techb@rgains.com, they usually have the latest coupons and how to configure machines to get the best bang for your buck. Check often, cuz there are times (especially just after midnight) when Dell will do some sort of price mistake or whatever on some newly posted deal, and you end up getting a really good deal.

Otherwise, it really doesn't matter when you buy a system "for the best price". If you know the market, the parts, current prices, etc, you search for the best deal and jump. Three years from now, you do it all over again...
