I need to replace my 6 year old PII 400 MHz Gateway that I never thought would survive this long, even though I've upgraded most components along the way.
I'll be using the system for general use (no gaming) but I will also do some video editing on it. I won't buy Compaq/HP/Sony and Dell's prices don't thrill me so I've looked into some lesser names. I'd love to build one but I don't have the spare time these days. I've looked at Systemax (through TigerDirect) and Monarch and ABS and like the prices I see, although Monarch scares me a bit since I don't know what types of power sources/fans, etc I need.
So, any tips on these companies? Any others that you'd recommend? In looking at video cards, I notice that some 256 MB cards are similarly prices as 128 MB cards (some are even cheaper). Are 256 MB cards not always better?
