I too might be in the market for a new lawn tractor. The current one we're using is as old as I am - 24years old. It's a Dynamark, and still sort of works. Various things have failed, but have been "patched" with improvised solutions. It does in fact still cut grass without posing any immediate threats to public health.
But one of these days it probably will just up and die. It's hardly had any maintenance either. I think it's only had 1, maybe 2 oil changes in its life. And it just had a new spark plug put in last year, to replace the original one. During the summer, it gets used at least every other week, so it's not like it was just sitting idle all that time.
That's the kind of longevity I'd expect from a replacement.
