Need to buy a fast pci card, anyone used this one?

Jaton has a Geforce4 440MX with 64MB DDR...I can't find any specs on it anywhere except their site... anyone used one? or know the speed of the RAM? My guess is that it could be VERY fast, well... for a PCI card anyway.

seems like a good deal for $67 (pricewatch) for an upgrade for my wifes Celeron 1200 PCI only system (currently using onboard SiS video)

Also, for those interested, they also have a dual head version for about $10 more... pretty sweet for adding more monitors

I don't know anything about Jaton's cards, but for a month or so, I had an Inno3D MX440 PCI card. It was pretty sweet for a PCI card and faster in some games than the 9000 PCI I currently have. I bought mine from Amamax (also listed on pricewatch) and had no problems with it. They currently have this card w/TV out for $71/shipped or so. Not a bad deal considering when I bought mine in September it was $99/shipped. Here's a link for you:

Edit: The MX440 PCI I had was clocked at 270/400.

cool, thanx... nice to know the clock rate on a PCI DR card... I think these two companies are the only ones making DDR versions of nvidia PCI cards.

i thought the mx420 was the only gf4 that did not use ddr.

thats correct, but the only pci cards you can find usually are MX420's...

The 9000 PCI has 64mb of DDR RAM. It's clocked at 250/380. I think it is the only card available now, aside from the Hercules 9000 PCI, that is DX8.1 hardwired. It is $99/shipped at www.newegg.com. Just look under video cards in the PCI category. Also, it has a passive heatsink, so no fan. Personally, I think the MX440 PCI for $70 is the best bang for the buck in the PCI category right now. It performs similarly to the 9000 PCI, but cost almost $30 less, which is less than retail stores usually sell their MX420 PCI cards for.

Friend, if that is a Sis 630E chipset on that motherboard, your 3d performance will still be horrible. The memory throughput on a Sis 630E is slower than some older boards using EDO Ram. I built and sold one about 6 mos. ago. It was choppy in any game, other than kids games.

yea, its a 630E, I didn't originally buy it for desktop use, but now my wifes using it... really the only games she plays are something like the shockwave bowling game on their website or something... its 3D, but very minimal, but those stupid SiS drivers don't even texture that right so its useless... she wont be playing unreal 2k3 or anything like that, so really I'm just looking at the dual head Jaton 440MX so that maybe I can use it elsewhere whenever her system is replaced. And the fact that if I'm gonna bother buying a pci video card, it might as well be as fast as possible.

Her memory benchmarks alittle slower than PC133, which is about right since its a 1000A running on a 120 bus. its nothing very fast, but it has a modded fasttrack100 running two 15GB 7200 rpm's in RAID 0 and a SBlive 5.1 for the audio, if I use the final PCI slot (uATX) for video it should run pretty decent, its actually suprisingly fast as it is.
