I tried this a while back, but i may have just burned a data dvd...I have a sony DVP-NS775V dvd player that says it can play certain burned media, but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I have tv episodes on my computer that I would like to show to ppl in a dvd player, but can't figure out how to burn them to a dvd that will play in my player. I have both roxio software that came with the drive, and nero 6, so if anyone can provide me with or point me to instructions on how to do this, I would really appreciate it.

what format are the files you want to burn?

.AVI or .Mpg

I know a little but this should help you out a lot.

Here

You'll probably need tmpgenc if the files are not in proper dvd mpeg2 format. Then you'll also need a dvd authoring program. You can download a trial version of tmpg dvd author and try it out.

so i can't author them myself inside nero? I don't want any fancy menus, just dvd's that will play on a player

the program i was thinking of using is roxio dvd builder (because it came with my drive). It's kinda confusing, and the help file says it can do what i want it to, but i can't figure out how to use it.

TMPEG Video Encoder and their DVD authroring software. They have free downloads from the company pegasys get them they work great.

First you need to convert your AVI or other format to an MPEG 2 video/audio stream compatible with DVD. Then once you do that you can author the DVD with the dvd software.

On another note you could get a Networked DVD player and possibly stream the content.

Or as I do. I use my Xbox with Mod chip using XBMC (Xbox media center) which plays pretty much every single format out there as long as they arent High Definition files.

I occasionally convert MPEG-4 using the free 'n' easy VSO DivXtoDVD for viewing on a standard DVD player. After conversion, the files are burned with Nero as a DVD-Video compliation.

1. Create new DVD-Video compilation
2. Drag contents of Video_TS folder created by DivXtoDVD into Nero's Video_TS folder
3. Burn
4. Marvel at simplicity

🙂

DIKO is your friend. Google it and get it; I've yet to have any problems with it, though it only lets you do mp2 audio and not AC3.
