need to build a cheap pc for girlfriend's brother

Ok, so I have a motherboard, case, power supply and some memory, so I just need the rest.

The motherboard is an ASUS P4S533
Memory is 2 x 256mb PC2100
power supply is an antec 300w

I was thinking something like a 2ghz P4 for this. I actually have a busted 2ghz P4. If anyone knows how to solder pins back on, I can use that.

So I just need an operating system, hard drive, and a cpu. I think I'll need the monitor and stuff too.

The price limit is $300. Anyone know of any hot deals off hand pertaining to this??

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.
 
i thikn i'm the first to say that you should just get a dell...then you won't be mr. call me up at 1 in the morning with computer problems.
 
No, it won't be on the internet, so none of those stupid problems will ever happen.

Those problems only arise when morons click everything and download everything they see and install everything that seems great.

So the only time they should be calling me is when the actual machine stops working, not just the OS.
