Went to computergeeks.com and saw that they had a barebone system for $49.00. The case is but ugly though

Any ideas in how i can do this w/o buying the butt ugly barebone from Computergeeks.om?

Fry's and outpost.com have some cheap builds with Lindows for around $200, good for surfing the net. My local Fry's even had an athlon 64 2800 with windows xp (complete box only with 40 gig hd, 256 memory, etc.) for $199 recently.

Fry's Black Friday sale had a Sempron 2400+ complete system for $99.

Try taking a look in the For Sale/Trade category around here. IIRC Karaktu used to have complete system builds for around $200.

If you really must roll your own... pretty tough to do without a Fry's nearby, LOL. You may be able to do an Asus Vintage barebones ($100) with a used mobile Celeron ($25-40), budget CDROM ($15), small HDD ($50) and 256MB RAM ($25).
