Need to buffer the scratches out of my pickguard

So I was strumming a little too wildly on my acoustic, with a white pick, and I manager to catch the pickguard pretty good, and now theres some clearish/whitish streaks on it. I tried using a towel, and that didn't really work, so I'm thinking I need to use some safe form of liquid. It doesn't help that the pick was white, and the guitar, along with the pickguard is black...

Buy some buffing compound, and some soft cloth. Follow the instruction on the buffing compound.

It's a pick guard. Now the guitar might not look as perfect, but at least the laquer was protected. All the cool people ('professional' musicians) have ravaged guitars...
