Symantec sucks, I hate them. They bought powerquest (partition magic 8) and they keep moving around the master error list. Now they've condensed the master error list and the real list isn't available on their site anymore, but it is available on the webarchive website. Since I don't trust webarchive to keep it there forever because they tend to lose things, I wanted to save the page before it is lost into oblivion.

That is the page, and you can see, there are a LOT of sublinks assoicated with the error codes that MUST be saved. Using FF or IE "save webpage" feature is totally useless so I'm asking, begging even, is there a way I can do this? I've seen people archive webpages and their associated links quite well and I was wondering how to do this myself.

I remember, a long time ago, there is a way that you could save web pages for working offline in IE.

The menu option and steps are probably in a different place in IE 7 and Firefox but I don't use those so I'll give you the directions for IE 6 and hopefully they'll point you in the right direction. :)

Browse to the web page you want to save, then click on the Favorites menu at the top of the IE window and select Add to Favorites.

Select the location in the list where you want the page to show up in the "Create in:" box, then check the box labeled "Make available offline." Click on the button labeled Customize and click Next if you get an intro screen for the Offline Favorite Wizard.

On the screen that begins with "Set up the following page:" click on the option labeled "Yes" and then change the number to the number of links deep that you want to save. )For example, if you want links on the main page and only the page those links point to, keep it at 1. If you want links on the main page, pages those links point to, and pages that links on the second pagees point to, select 2.) Click Next. If you want IE to automatically update any changes to the page, select the option to create a schedule. If you want to keep it just as it is right now, leave it on the "only when I choose" option and click Next.

If you need a user name and password for the archive, enter it on the next page then click Finish. IE will proceed to download and store all content related to the page and any links on the page based on the depth setting you chose. Once it finishes, any time you want to view the stored content, click on File>Work Offline in IE then click on the Favorite for the site in your Favorites list and IE will show you the stored data for the web page.

the problem with that method is two fold: one it doesn't seem like it works and two I have no idea where these files are being saved.

It might be that there is something in the code that prevents downloading the content of the Links from the main page.

Try this free program.

It Let you choose a directory independent from the general we surfing to save the content.
