Need to access forums at school!

Bess (proxy) now blocks the forums and for a while, I was using an anomynizer which got me around it, but now that is blocked, I can't find one that works, and I need a new one, cause school is too boring. Thanks a lot guys.

put the url of the forums at the end of that (ie. /http/forums.anandtech.com), it will get around your proxy. It got around mine at school.

the title is misleading...you don't NEED forum access, you WANT it. We can't get everything we want, but good luck to you anyway.

There are dozens of computers in each building everywhere at the university I go to, and it's a small school. If they don't want people surfing the web, then they shouldn't install IE.

Surfing the net never bothered me, but people that only chat and play games made me mad...

Haven't tried IP's, but server numbers I believe do not work. I would really like to know why the forums are blocked. I wrote a lengthy explaination to the 'bess' webmaster or whoever, how the forums are to my utmost educational benefiet, and how I learn so much from GW, and whatnot. A very convincing case all-in-all, and they did not lift the block (I have convinced them to unblock other sites, so I know its possible). I can't wait to get another anomynizer, so I can email them that I'm getting around their crappy system, and I can access all the really harmful (to them anyway) sites like p0rn, and gun sites. That'll teach 'em!

Alright, I guess I'll make a helpful post now. www.spaceproxy.com is about the same as anonymizer. They might not have banned it (yet).

Well I'm not going to put the one I'm using in the email. They shouldn't find out. In fact I might even set up my own anomynizer if I get the time.

Ya we have bess at our school too, many I hate that dog. Seems like she blocks every site, even the informative ones. Good luck to you.

My school district also uses Bess. Bess is suck.

and they have a program called trinagel boy that allows you to use there services from other web site so they can't ban the system as easy. You could also try www.altavista.com and use the transulater as a proxy

but the best thing to do is to use normal proxies , b/c your firewall blocks just some ports , not all of them , so if you can find proxy with uncommon port , you are in luck ... I think this one I use in school for now (until they find it and block that port) michael.rc.net:81
