I just got a new kitten (about a month and a week old) and we have an 18 year old cat already.

Whenever my kitten gets active (which is most of the time :)) he will bite our hands, you can't even pet him most of the time without him biting you. At first it was nothing at all, he didn't have any strength in his jaw, but now it's starting to hurt enough that you can't enjoy petting him.

I'm hoping this is just a thing that will pass when he gets older, but I don't want him to be a cat that bites everyone. I'm just wondering if any of you have some tips that could help me out.
Thanks

thanks, I am happy to say that he is toilet trained ;)

EDIT:
Oh, lol, I didn't realize that the link was how to literally TOILET train your cat. In that case, no, he is not toilet trained.

Yea, that's what I though! :) I've tried it with my cat, but he's too fat to get up on the toilet

I've broken a few kittens of biteing by getting them to bite my thumb. Then grab the bottom of their jaw and gently squeeze and hang on to them. You are not trying to hurt them, just don't let them go for awhile. They don't like the feeling of your thumb in their mouth and ususally will stop biting.

My friend adopt a kitten (feral cat) last christmas and has the same symptom.
At about the same age, she (the cat) would bit anyone that plays with her.
Not in a malicous manner, more of like playing.
Soon her bitting would become too strong to tolerate.
But at about 9 month, she would bit less and less.
Although she would retain her instinct to bite for no reason.
If you pet her carefully she wouldn't mind, but if you play with her a little rough she would grab a hold with her claw and chomp away :)
She still bite from time to time, but it is tolerable.
What can I say, she's cute so people loves her.

I have two cats, one fortunately is very smart and she bites a lot but knows how to do it without making me feel a thing.

The other is not so bright but whenever he bites me, I stick my hand farther in his mouth, not away. Now he is a lot more gentle.

Best of luck to you... I have had my cat for about 4 years, and he still bites. Usually it is just a little nip to let us know that he is the boss. Sometimes, though, he will seriously sink his teeth in. I keep thinking he will grow out of it someday. I'm beginning to doubt it.
