Putting together new system with new Antec 1080AMG. Now on the internal, 5.25" drive bays at the bottom of the case are two of those 'fan holders' or whatever their called. Anyway, one of them is right on the bottom of the case, so if a fan was there it would be blowing over the last PCI slot. And the other 'Fan Holder' is the next bay up. If a fan where here, it would blow air into the case and over the AGP Card area.

So my question is: I will only have one intake fan. Should I put it on the very bottom, or on the next bay above that. If I put it on the middle bay, it looks like it would hit either the AGP card, or space in between the AGP card and CPU/HSF/Combo.

Where should I put the fan. Thanks

For the Record the case also had two 80mm Antec fans on the rear, and a 80mm side fan mounted on the case door, blowing to the AGP card area.

I'd say don't put it in at all. Front fans hardly get any airflow and just generate noise. If you must put it in, I'd say the lower bracket, just because that area gets no airflow from anything else. Of course depending on your hard drive positioning, the upper bracket could provide airflow over the drive.

I also find that only one rear fan is needed to provide good cooling. With a blower on the side, you've really got plenty of intake.

i put my single fan on the upper bracket in the front...it cools my hard drive there and seems to suck less dust off the ground. pci cards don't need that much cooling anyways, so i got a direct path of cool air to my cpu...

Hmm, I have the same case and I opened it up today to take out my ram because I fiddled with the timings and anyway I took my only intake fan out because I just bought another case for my sis and I will be using that fan in that case and my temp has not changed for my cpu. I would think the exhaust fans are more important cuz they get rid of the hot air thats been dissapated by the components. but I would put it in the drive cage to cool the agp area.
