I want to record my own voice in either mp3 or wav format. After that, is there something that I can use, to put background music in the back? Also, is there something to alter my voice, i.e, make it higher, lower, etc etc...
Hell I remember doing all that in windows 95 with the voice recorder built into windows... Just go into start menu >programs > accessories > entertainment, it's the sound recorder. Don't know about adding music though.
Play the music and record your voice. Or you can record your voice seperately and open two players, and do any syncing you might feel you need to (trial and error).
Do know that play volume isn't the same as recording volume. You could get suprising results until you tweak the recording mixer settings. You'll likely want to mute or seriously reduce the play level of your mic channel (or use headphones or turn the speakers down/off) to eliminate feedback.
Some sound cards come with realtime audio fx (voice higher, lower, echo, etc), so if you haven't, you might want to double check what's been installed and what you have on disk.
