Hey guys, I'm looking for the best smoothie maker either online or at a store (Target would be great) between $50-$100. Need it asap.

We have a blender that we got at some white-elephant christmas gathering thing. Works like a charm for smoothies and probably only cost $20 brand-new! 🙂

"smoothe maker??" 😕

I need to open a store where I buy a bunch of blenders for $10 and sell them as "smoothie makers" for $50-100 😀

Wrong answer.

Blenders require more power for making smoothies, to crush the ice smoothly without chunks.

"Any blender" definitely will not do a good job.

Smoothie recipe:

1. Ice
2. Milk, cream or yogurt (though yogurt would probably need to be diluted)... Milk is what I usually use.
3. Strawberries (or some other fruit)
4. Blend

Are you one of those people that also spends $300 for a steak knife?

I can see your point, but even a crazed knife elitist wouldn't spend $300 on a steak knife. It would be a terrible sin to use any good knife to cut steak. Even if the plate was made of wood or some similarly edge-safe material, there's still the chance of scraping the edge against the tine of a fork.

I prefere:

Bananas
Strawberrys
Ice
Orange Juice

No, I bought my steak knifes at Dollar Tree.

Now read up, you obviously can learn something here. 😉

Just buy a really nice blender.

All you people saying "any blender will do" don't know what you're talking about and haven't made enough smoothies. I've KILLED cheap blenders with my smoothie drinking habits. Cheap blenders take forever to crush ice.

Also, the BEST WAY TO MAKE SMOOTHIES is to freeze the fruit you use instead of using ice. Orange Juice + frozen strawberries + Frozen peaches + frozen blueberries is heaven.

I helped start up a cafe. If you can afford it, get one of those mini Vitamix blenders. I see them at Costco sometimes. We use the commercial ones but the mini's do a decent job.

Freeze all your fruit - bananas, peaches, mangos, pineapples, strawberries, etc. And instead of using juice, use concentrate with a little water. I like sorbets better than ice cream for smoothies. If I want creamy I'd make a milk shake instead.

Oh and chopping your ice beforehand works better than throwing in ice cubes.

Ok, get a Vitamix blender. That's all I use at work, and I make smoothies as a side job.. and they work awesome. Pretty much everything virtuamike said is spot on.

He probably has the Quesadilla Maker and Popcorn popper. WTF is it with these threads. Do people enjoy paying for task specific countertop products?
