what sunglasses would be good for tennis. since tennis requires looking up into the sun, eliminating glare would be nice, as would allowing me to still be able to see he ball, and blocking uv's. light weight, and polarized.

no, i dont want the 5$ ones as they will not do what i want.

any suggestions?

im looking over at framesdirect.com just to see what is out there, they seem to have a large selection.

Oakley.

Edit: M-Frames specifically. I use them for shooting and biking.

umm.. its not possible to avoid the sun when you have to toss a ball into the air to serve. normally at my high school courts, the sun is directly where the ball goes when i am serving from deuce side.

polarized lenses are awesome for cutting down the glare immensely and giving you great depth of field and depth perception

Oakleys are the ultimate sport glasses. Your face will break before your sunglasses do. I recommend some half jackets, or maybe minutes. Those and M frames are among the most durable. I prefer O matter frames to the metallic type ones.

They can do amazing things with lenses. Certain lenses will filter out some colors and/or enhance others. It works very well with golf where the lenses are designed to enhance contrast in the green spectrum so that putts are just as readable with shades as they are without. They also don't sacrifice depth perception which happens with other lenses and wrecks ball-striking and the short game. There are lenses that are designed specially for tennis that'll enhance the yellow part of the spectrum. They cut glare and really make it easy to pick out the ball from the background. I've tried Bolle's tennis lens, it's called Competivision or something like that and it really works. They cut the glare and make it really easy to pick up the ball. No doubt that Oakley and some of the other premium brands have special tennis lenses too.

FWIW I bought my golf Bolle's on e-bay. The Vigilante model, comes with 2 sets of lens, the Eaglevision2 for golf and a grey for normal everyday wear. They're great, light, comfortable and work exactly as advertised, they're the only shades I've ever found that are good for golf. The Vigilante also comes with a tennis lens set and they're not that expensive.

Polarized lenses suck. They're not much good for anything besides fishing and boating. The reduced contrast and poor depth perception make them a poor choice for almost everything else. For any activitity that involves picking up a moving ball, like tennis or baseball, avoid polarized. Non-polarized does almost as well at cutting glare without the drawbacks.

just get wrap around oakleys or whatever. just stay away from ones that let tons leak in from the side. and get simple dark shades, notlight blue or whatever useless junk.

My bro used to work at Sunglass Hut. He says that rose-colored lenses are best for seeing the ball, etc. in sports.

edit: Read about them here.

I bought a pair of these. They retail for $130, but half-off if you know someone who works at SH.

Yeah red and amber is good because it blocks green and blue light. Good for seeing stuff against foliage and the sky.

i don't think there's a single pro on the tour that wears sunglasses.

it takes a little practice to use a hat properly, but if you can alter your toss and look with your eyes and not your head, you don't have to compromise your serve too much when serving into the sun.

what you should really do is protest against the EPA so companies can pollute the atmosphere and block the sunlight.
