I will. I did some google searching with the thought that perhaps I needed some kind of hardware driver since I'm connecting the receiver to my PC. I'm not seeing any references for drivers related to stereo receivers.

I started a thread at AVforums regarding this issue. Hopefully someone will be able to
help me out.

Also, I guy I work with has a 6' HDMI to HDMI cable he's going to let me borrow. I'll connect this cable from my receiver to my PJ along with my 10' DVI to HDMI from my PC to the receiver and see if this makes a difference.

I ended up getting a ONKTXSR804B

it was a couple hundred dollars more the the 604 but it does HDMI conversion so I will only have to run 1 hmdi cable to my projector.

I'll have a quick review up when I get it, but I am very excited.

Okay peeps...I'm REALLY running out of ideas here. The Onkyo service rep mentioned the possibility of there being a HDCP issue, but quickly said it shouldn't be the cause of my image quality issue.

I don't know a lot about HDCP, but is is possible my HDCP compliant Onkyo receiver is "down-converting" my video resolution (1280x720) from my non-compliant PC's video card into a lessor resolution and then sending the reduced resolution image to my PJ?

The image quality of my PC-receiver-PJ really looks like it's a "resolution"
issue.

Here's a thread regarding Onkyo and HDCP which is UNRELATED to projectors and PCs but hey, I'm getting desparate here for a solution

"That's strange. Please try more output format from the MediaBox to check if it's resolution related.

On the other hand, we tested a Onkyo TX-SR803 AV amp which has a 2-in 1-out HDMI section. We found that MediaBox HDMI input to the Onkyo and the Onkyo HDMI output is HDCP protected! The MediaBox HDMI output has NO HDCP signal and the Onkyo actually adds HDCP to it's HDMI output no matter the input source! Hence we can't display the MediaBox picture on a normal PC LCD monitor (which has no HDCP support) via the Onkyo HDMI switching!

Pixel Magic Support."

Based on the above...I'm guessing a HDCP signal is either "passed on" to a display, or it isn't (i.e., no picture would be displayed verses a "degraded" resolution).

Can you check on the projector what kind of signal it's getting? (720p or not)

No...I don't have any such equipment. I also called Onkyo again and the CSR said the HDMI Ins/outs are "pass through" with no conversion taking place (i.e., the receiver CANNOT "intentially" downgrade the signal). I also called Mitsubishi and their CSR mentioned DVI-A, DVI-D and DVI-I and both my video cards are DVI-I (digital and analog) so that's not the problem.

I really need a shorted HDMI to HDMI cable to confirm my cable lenghts are not the issue.

then go to Monoprice.com and spend $4 on an hdmi cable. I buy them by the handful when I order.

Does your projector say what kind of input it's getting? (mine says 720p when hooked up to my computer)

Where does it say 720p? While screwing around with the cables and connections, my pc put up a "new" message indicating a DVI to HDMI connection has been made. Other than that, I don't see anywhere in the menus for the PJ where it says the resolution.

I'm about ready to give up and use what I have for connections/settings other than ordering a digital coaxial cable for sound from the PC to the receiver along with a VGA cable from the PJ to the receiver and call it a day. The back of my PJ is going to look like a porcupine with all the wires🙂

I don't remember where my AE900U says it, somewhere on one of the setup menus. I'd have to fire it up to give you the right screen but since you have a different projector it's probably not worth it.

That's okay Soundman...I think I'm good to go with the setup I've got. Also, thanks for the link to "sound information". Some good stuff in there.
