Need suggestions regarding audio recording system.

My friend wants to record his voice (advertisements) and play them on the radio. The system has to be mobile so he can take it anywhere he can and also edit it on the computer.

He asked me for a suggestion and I am total newbie. Does anyone have an idea of what I should be looking at? Thank you.

He'll need a half-decent microphone. If he only wants to record his voice, it's simpler (no background sounds). I'd say, since he wants to be able to edit on his computer, he should record directly to his computer's hard drive and work from there. How to make it portable? He could bring a laptop or he could bring his recordings in a wide variety of other ways with varying levels of fidelity. Those include MP3 files, uncompressed audio (or MP3 or other compressed files) on CDR or CDRW, iPod (I suppose), or a variety of other portable audio devices. I'm not strong in comparing portable audio hardware, etc., but I think he should tactfully probe some of the people he will be interacting with in an attempt to ascertain what means they find acceptable or preferable for providing them with this audio.

i would get a professional mike and a sony minidisk recorder it captures a great sound and can then be converted on a pc and worked with.
