I just started to take a Visual Basic course at school and am looking for a good book that I could use to learn it myself at home (my school doesn't provide books for the course, it's going too slow for my liking, and my teacher doesn't mind if I get ahead of the rest of the class). Though I'm new to VB, I took a course on C++ last year, so I'm not completely new to the concept of making programs. I need suggestions on a book to pick up that'll teach me the basics of VB up through approx. a year of VB classes (HS, not college) or more. My only restriction is that the instructor insists that we use code to do as much of the programs as is possible (for example, placing code in form load to put captions on labels and command buttons rather than using the caption property in the properties screen), so I'd like a book that teaches using this method. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
