Need suggestions on unclogging a kitchen sink

I've been trying to unclog my kitchen sink using the typical drain unstoppers (Draino, etc.) but so far nothing has worked. I'm trying to avoid calling a plumber, so does anyone know of any good products or suggestions for clearing up a grease clog?

an oldie but a pretty good one:

pour about half a cup of baking soda down the drain follow with a cup or two of vinegar
let sit for 10 to 15 minutes then pour a pot of boiling water down.

Bleach, though you'll want to run lots of water down it beforehand to clear out any soap, lest it react and make ozone.

Besides that, dunno.

You could try renting a "snake" from Home Depot. Also, you might try unscrewing the elbow under the sink to see if you can get at the clog that way and use a straightened coat hanger or something to dig the clog out.

I would buy a snake attachment for a power drill.

I thought my drain was clogged with grease too but after getting a pro to snake it, found out it was a bunch of rubber bands caught in an elbow in a pipe about 30 feet down.

After watching him do it and paying $100, a snake attachment would easily pay for itself the next time around.

if you have draino still in there you have a bad problem and probably should not try to fix it yourself.
