Need suggestions on new Desktop system choice

ok I didnt think I would be able to upgrade my system but something has come up and I might have about 600 or 700 to spend. I would like to go dual core be it intel or amd. I do like to play the latest games but not 24/7 like some people i know. my current system is a athlonxp 2600+ M that does 2.5ghz, 1 gig pc3200, 2 80 gig 7200 hds and a nvidia 6800 vanilla. I would like to upgrade to something better in all areas if i can but i understand that 700 is not a ton. Can anyone give me some suggestions? If I dont keep any of my current system i will probably just sell the parts etc. Thanks
