Need suggestions on mounting MCR220s in TJ07 bottom section

Right.

I took apart the TJ07 a little bit ago because I want to lay down some vibration dampening material before starting the main task of watercooling. I removed the single aluminum piece (front, top, bottom of case) from the main chassis, and took off the bottom fan assemblies.

What kind of setup do you guys suggest for mounting the radiators down there? I don't want to go with something like velcro, I'd prefer a degree of stability and permanence. Is there any way to integrate the existing fan assemblies into the mix? Put them back in (sans fans obviously) and mount the mcr220s to them? Is there some standard way most people with TJ07s do it?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

only other solution i can think of is replacing the mesh with radgrills, but that would make pulling your side pannel a bit difficult.

You can goto a hardware store and buy some L's. Drill some holes into them and use them as brace ontop of something. Maybe screw a block of wood into the case and then screw the L to suspend it.

Hey aig, question about the barbs on the radiators.

I've got EK High flow's for them, which you recommended a couple of months ago when I first began collecting parts for this. A few days ago you said to go with Dteks...any particular reason why you changed your mind? I mean, I'm not going to order the Dteks since I've already got the EKs, but is there any measurable difference in performance between the two?

Petra's shipped me a ton of other barbs also, which I have no idea what brand they are:(

The only new barbs that have any measurable performane boost is the new DD fatboys that will not work with 7/16" tubing. apparently it's a bit of a chore to get 1/2" over them.

As for the radiators. Go to home depot and get some 1/2" angle aluminum. Then trim to the same length as the fan section of the radiator and drill holes to line up with the fan mounting ones on the radiator. Drill some holes on the other side and some in the bottom of the case and ta-da. nice custom aluminum mount. can even be painted to match.

Alrighty, good to know about the barbs, because I have the EKs, and I oddly did just find some Dteks that I completely forgot came with my microres order. So I'm assuming having EKs on the radiators and Dtek's on the reservoirs won't pose any problems? I'm kind of nitpicking here I know, I just want to have everything good to go before I dive in here. You guys both have been a big help so far btw, and I'm sure I'll be bugging you a lot over the next few days as I start putting this together. Still need to order a couple things and pick them up from Petra's, but it's local so I should be starting soon!

Cool, it's what we're here for. Mixing the EK's and the D-teks won't actually hurt anything. They even look pretty similar.

90% pure distilled water with 10% Pentosin antifreeze for corrosion resistance(just in case) and a few drops of ptnuke. If you have a 100% copper system then you can skip the pentosin but, if there is so much as any chrome or brass, I'd run some pentosin, just in case.

Today's boring update:

Went to Petra's and picked up some blue Pentosin, ptnuke, and some dtek barbs. I'm a bit OCD and want the same brand on the radiators, reservoirs, and CPU/GPU block. All are dtek now:) Gives me a warm fuzzy.

Also, I made what should be the final parts order, this time from Sidewinder (Petra's didn't have most of the stuff I wanted). I ordered:

Tygon tubing 7/16 ID, 11/16 OD
2nd Swiftech MCP655 vario
6 Scythe S-Flex 120mm SFF21E's (49CFM)

Exciiiiting!

Also, what's the general setup for the pumps/radiators/reservoirs in the case?

The radiators have to be on the bottom since it's a TJ07 and I'd like them mounted down there. The pumps from what I've read are supposed to be at the lowest point of the loops as well, so it's going to get a bit crowded down there with all of that combined with the PSU. Am I going to have room down there, and do the pumps even need to be down that low? I'm thinking the reservoirs can go in the spare drive bays, but is there a better location?

Thanks,

Nick

LOL...

Theres no difference in performance. Its very tiny if you consider it.

The reason why i said go with d-tek is on the swiftech stuff, sometimes it wont seal perfectly on the EK. You need to double O-Ring it. Its not hard, just use the Oring that comes with your stuff on plastic barbs and add onto the EK. I think i told you this.

The D-tek is a no oring swap. This is why i recomend them more then the EK. But the EK's are blinger, the new DD fatboys however are the best martin has tested. Im willing to bet the koolance barbs arent that far from it either.

BTW my favorate barbs now is the koolance 13mm compression. :D

DOE you could of saved some cash by going masterkleer instead of tygon. They all end up clouded in the long run, and trust me, your loop wont be up long enough for you to see the true benifits of tygon. (meaning your gonna tinker with it until you get sick which is about 3 months)
