Need suggestions on Home Theatre surround sound setup

Can anyone give me suggestions on some surround sound setups?

I just ordered a Samsung 50" DLP tv and need some speakers/receiver.

My budget is $1000 max. But wouldn't mind spending much less.

Anyone have any of the Fluance speakers, they seem WAY cheap price wise, almost to good to be true.

i need the whole setup. i'd like to find one the those surround sound packages that sound good though and have some bass?? I'm asking for advice and model numbers because its been a LONG time since I shopped for home stereo stuff.

oh and if I can find the gear in silver that would be good too. match the tv/stand alot better anyways.

not bad for 1100$

going cheap isnt worth it at all, might as well spend the money, you allready dropped a ton on that TV might as well get a stereo to go with it

i have no problem spending $1500 max now. As long as its good quality stuff. This cambridge package sound good? Have you heard it in person? how is the bass?

Also do they come in silver? The tv is pretty much all silver along with the stand. So if I can find a good set in silver that would be better.

Deal #4 Herein

AV123 makes great products at incredible price/performance ratios, and I have never come across another company, brick and mortar or other internet-direct, so committed to customer satisfaction.

The ELT system has gotten great reviews:

Home Theater Sound
Secrets of Home Theater
Home Theater Talk

Worried about buying internet-direct and not being able to go into a store and hear it? Check AudioEnvy to see if someone in your area is available to host an audition.

I sound like a paid shill, I know, but browse the forum at their website for a while, and you'll begin to understand why people are so committed to this company.

Edit: Wanna go cheaper? Check out the deal on the Tkye System HERE. Great little system at a good package price. Product Description in the Products area and Reviews in the News/Reviews section of their site.

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

raiden linked some good stuff - the ELT's and/or Tykes were on my short list for a while (ended up with floorstanders for several reasons).

whatever you do, try to LISTEN to as many different types/brands of speakers as possible, preferably with your own music. you want to pick something that sounds good to YOU!

also, keep in mind that your amp will flavor whatever source it is amplifying - some amps are bright, some warm, a few muddy - try to find out what type of sound you prefer and then get the speaker/amp to match.

the only other thing i would say is that you want to buy the best speakers you can afford - the amp is easy to upgrade and is comparatively cheap.

good luck from me as well!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out. I looking into Audio Envy for a possible audition but no luck. Nearest owner of the ELT's is 400+ miles away.

ttt

still looking for other suggestions. prefer something in silver still.

What I need:

Good surround sound setup for tv/movie watching.
Speakers that sound good and produce good amount of bass too for music.

Like I said its been so long since I've shopped for home theatre stuff. I know most stuff sold locally is either crap or over priced.

Some guys I know always say Paradigm speakers are the best for the money. I have no other info on which models but it is usually in the $1000 to $1200 range minus the reciever.
