I'm looking for a place online or b&m to buy a keyboard. If you know of any store or any specific keyboard that is really good or what not, let me know. I'm looking for a decent keyboard. i don't need all the extra stuff like being able to play the sounds of a violin or whatnot. I just need one that'll let me play a piano. If you have any suggestions or advice, please tell. thanks.

UPDATE: ok, i'm either gonna get a casio or a yamaha. they're both about 90 bucks and pretty dang sucky. now question is, which one should i get?

i'd like to find one too, my wants seem similar to ilovedivx's...just something that emulates the feel and sound of a real piano. if i wanted it to sound like a violin i'd learn to play violin. :)

I doubt there's a break in the price for buying online over a B&M. The prices are fixed on new keyboards, BUT a used one gives you a lot of room to dicker and they depreciate pretty quickly. Look in the yellow pages for a local outfit selling used ones. Listen to a few and see if you can find one in the classifieds.

90 bucks! You've GOT to be kidding!

Musician's Friend has the best prices on new ones. Yamaha is probably preferable to Casio, though $100.00 won't buy much either way. Check out your local Guitar Center, Lentines or mom & pop music shop for used keyboards. I'd much rather have a better quality used one than waste $100.00 on those cheap units. Matter of fact, I'd count on spending more than $500.00, even for a used one!

You have email. I'm not able to re-subscribe and my PM folder is way past full now. Don't want to delete anything there, either.

Between those two, without any other specifics given, I'd pick Yamaha.

I'd go for yamaha, primarily out of product loyalty...
At that price point, there's little difference between the two. Go for whichever one has features you think you'll enjoy more.

find a nice price online and pricematch to guitar center or a local store. that's what i did for my new digital piano, it makes it easier if you don't like it. i guess a keyboard doesn't weigh too much, but return shipping on a 140lb package would've killed me.
