Old monitor finally croaked 🙁 Looking for something under 500$, with at least 1024x768 @100hz. Something that would be optimal for Gaming! Thanks! Any suggestions appreciated.
 
CRT or LCD? you should have no problem finding a 21 inch CRT for that budget. however u might want to look into a high response time 17" lcd for that kind of money too.
 
Keep an eye on Dell's specials with coupons and free shipping. You should be able to get a pretty high end NEC/Mitsubishi 22" within your budget.
 
Thanks for the suggestions! Another question, I have heard that LCD monitors "smear" and aren't as powerful and smooth for running intense 3D games as CRT's are, is that true?

It's true, for the most part. That's why most gamers prefer CRTs.

As for recommendations I'd suggest a Sony CPD-G520P, it's definitely one of the best monitors out there, but it might be a little over your budget. I saw it as low as $600 last year.
