Need suggestions for weekend trip to Charleston, Mt. Pleasant, Edisto, Myrtle Beach areas

I'm taking my son on a trip for his birthday that I've promised him for awhile. I hope (really want) to do it this weekend, but funds are limited.

I need some suggestions on lodging and eats in these areas. Ideally a beach front hotel in the $80-$100 range would be great, but maybe someone knows of something cheaper without sacrificing quality. Or maybe someone can tell me that my price range is ridiculous and to get real, I dunno.

So if anyone in the area has any ideas, please post them, pm, or email me in my sig below.

Also, any suggestions for entertaining a 6 year old down there (besides putt-putt) would be great!!
