Need suggestions for senior embedded projects

I am at a loss for new ideas for our senior embedded project. A lot of past projects include RC cars, helicopters, robots, wifi, actual phone, voice recognition, etc... We are looking for something new and useful.

We are all electrical engineering students, so we don't focus too much on the software side.

The project is 4 weeks long with a 3-person team. We can use any programming languages (C, C++, Verilog, Java, C#, etc...). The project can be done with any PIC microcontroller. About 60% is hardware and 40% is software.

Any suggestions for cool embedded projects?
