I work in a research lab where we use large 8 x 10 autoradiography films to expose our western blots. With the discontinuation of support for Windows XP coming all of our machines have been updated to Windows 7 and our IT department can't find drivers for our old scanner. So now I'm looking for a replacement scanner.

Here is an example of what we scan.

We need a backlit scanner where the light moves with the sensor as it scans. It needs to be a flatbed scanner than can at least accommodate an 8 x 10 film. It would also be nice if it was a newer scanner that would have software support for several years.

Can anyone suggest a scanner? I've never shopped for a scanner before and don't really know what to look for.

Thanks in advance.

We use fujitsu scanners at work but they are not flatbed scanners. However, Fujitsu makes nice quality scanners. You might check them out or look for a company that specializes in scanning equipment. Don't know if this requires a high quality scanner. You at least want something that doesn't take forever to scan one item.
