OK, I've been given the green light to finally update my computer (unless something else comes up).

I need to update my MB, CPU and RAM.

Right now I have a AMD k6-2 400MHz processor w/ 256MB PC-100 RAM. I also have a WD 13GB ata-66 HDD, SBLive Value and VooDoo3 3000 video card.

I am hoping to get a Duron 1.3GHz processor. Here are some MB potentials:

Asus A7V266-E
Epox EP-8kHA+
MSI K7T266 Pro
Shuttle AK32
Soyo SY-K7V (Dragon)
ECS K7S5A or K7VTA3

This will go into an Antec SX830 w/ 300W ps and 4 80mm case fans.

I was kind of hoping to get by w/o updating my RAM right away (knowing that and the HDD will be huge bottlenecks), but if I have to, I have to.

Basically, I want it to have good expandibility potential and effective overclocking (since who know when I'll be able to do this again).

I want it to be capable of handling most games (the game Heavy Metal FAKK2 is stuttering on the lowest settings).

Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you know where I can get anything cheaper.

What's your budget like? You can get 256MB of DDR RAM for about $50 shipped. Also, I think most of those boards you listed on DDR boards. Personally, I'd probably go with either the Asus or MSI boards. You might also consider getting a slightly slower (1.1 or 1.2GHz) T-bird instead of a 1.3Ghz Duron. I'm also thinking that if your main concern is gaming performance, you may see more benefit from buying a new graphics card (either gF2 or Radeon), assuming your current board supports at least AGP 2X.
