Hey Group,
My friend had asked me for some assistance on picking out an LCD screen for gaming so I went over to newegg and, well, I was overwhelmed with all of the choices.

So I decided to come here and ask you experts :) he's looking for a 20" screen and hpoefully in the $300-$400 price range. Any tips guys???

TIA

P.S. how do I get my old screen name back????? I changed from cable to dsl and when I tried to use my old screen name it wouldn't allow it.

You might want to PM a mod to ask about that. I've changed internet several times over my stay here and I haven't had any issues like that. Are you sure you just didn't forget your password?

remember that lcds look good at their native resolution, which for a 20" is either 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 depending on if it is widescreen or not. 17" an 19" are 128x1024. the reason i bring this up is since he is a gamer and if he goes with a 20" 1600x1200 lcd, his machine must be able to keep a decent frame rate up at that resolution for whatever games he plays.

widescreens are nice, but unfortuanately not all game support them (this does seem to be changing, finally). you can get around this a bit but there is still a bit of stretch.

definately something to consider imo

other than that good luck and many will suggest good lcds

ViewSonic VX2025WM @ $340
LG L204WT @ $320

(Spend the extra $20 and get the higher quality screen.)
