I'm having a lan party for the first time in well over a year with about 15-20 friends next week, and I was hoping to get some suggestions on games for us to play. We tend to play FPS more than anything else, but might be open to try a different genre if it seems worthwhile.

Games on the table right now:

UT2K4 (and Red Orchestra)
CS: Source
HL2DM

I was thinking about picking up Star Wars Republic Commando, but didn't know how the multiplayer in it was. I really can't come up with many more games that had good multiplayer for lan matches. Any suggestions are appreciated!

If you want some "old school" look at BF 1942 (with or without desert combat) and Star Wars Battlefront. Both are pretty fun at LAN's, especially when you are a droideka and roll up behind a friend, deploy, and blast his sorry rear.

Try Flatout(destruction derby kinda game), lots of fun :)

Medal of Honor: United Offensive is also pretty cool.

StarCraft (RTS fix)
DesertCombat (BF 1942 mod)
RO (UT2k4 mod)

that should be all you need

My LAN Party is April 2 and we're going to play Flatout. A couple of us play it online and it's a blast.

Other games going to be played:
Enemy Territory (free, and we all play it)
America's Army (free, like CSS)
Call of Duty: United Offensive
UT2004
HL2 Deathmatch
Sometype of BF1942(original, vietnam, Desert Combat, etc.)

Good Luck!

I love the oldies:
Quake
Quake II
Even Doom2 can be loads of fun for the oldtimers!

I also vote for Enemy Territory and America's Army (now at version 2.3!)

Another vote for Enemy Territory...this game is like crack when you're playing with a good team

Thanks for all of the suggestions... haven't been at my computer for the past few days (super busy!). I think we might give Flatout a go as I've heard of it before, and a couple of the people were wanting to play the Point of Existence mod for BF:V, so I think that's been added to the grab bag mix.

Unfortunately, RTS games will be very close to if not completely non-existant over the course of the gaming. Main reason is one of our Asian friends and my Japanese friend will be having more fun than anything (especially in Starcraft or Warcraft III), and the rest of us will be crying. They're just too good.... ;)

I think we're going to have a game or two of Star Wars: Battlefront, because many of us have never played it and are very curious.

I wanna play CoD: UO so bad! Never got the chance. I still have the original, and considering the thought of the sequel just being added back into my head as a result of this thread I might have to go pick it up....

Enemy Territory was/is a great game to play. I played it constantly from the day it was released through the next few months. I tend to get bored with games that have a small number of maps and, in turn, get to be boring from the highly repetitive nature of them (I have ADD really bad :D). Regardless, I think we still might throw in a match or two.

Regarding the suggestion for Savage, that looks like it could be a really cool game to play. I don't know if I've got enough time to download it and really try it out before Tuesday (flying out of town in a few hours), but I'm definitely going to be taking a good look at it as soon as I get the chance. Thanks for that.

CS matches are ALWAYS on the itenerary, and anyone who doesn't want to play becomes an outcast for the rest of the night. :p

Thanks again for all the suggestions! I really appreciate it!
