Need Suggestions for Fan on AX-7

Scorpion

Long delayed computer upgrade. I've been a little out of the loop.

I was wanting to get an AX-7. I was wondering what you all would suggest for Fan that has a good balance between noise and cooling. I want to keep it as quite as possible but still get pretty good cooling out of it.

All suggestions are apprecaited. 🙂

Thanks,

Matt

I know that there are many threads with this question already, but I would like some clearer suggestions as well.

I'm not going to be overclocking but am going to be running the CPU pretty hard - building a Digital Audio Workstation and therefore need a quiet solution as well that keeps my CPU safe.

I have an Sunon KD1208PTB2 (never used) lying around (80mm, 2900 RPM, 39 CFM) - would this work well?
How quiet is the fan?

Otherwise, any suggestions.

Thanks for helping us rehash the same question.

Sorry to Rehash this question 🙂

I did look around through the other threads, but I wasn't satisfied. I'm looking for a more clear definative answer.

Where are all the cooling guys at? I know you all can help. 🙂

Im curious as well.... Im using the Sunon mentioned above but i would like something thats a little better... Maybe the 53cfm metatronics...

A Panaflo L1A with 24CFM @ 21dB is probably the best fan for your situation. Should be inaudible with the case all buttoned up.

Just make sure you have at least SOME case ventilation. I'm not talking about 100+ CFM going through there, but at the very least 30CFM in and out.

This setup will be more than enough for a non-overclocked system. You can keep it at full load 100% of the time and be fine.

If you're not doing overclocking then the Enermax 80mm adjustable speed fan is good. It's pretty much inaudible at low speed (25CFM/21db) and still makes little noise at max (40CFM / 33db). Running my 1700+ overclocked at 1900+ /1.85V at full load I maxed out at mobo-24C & CPU-44C. So I think your non-overclocked CPU should be just fine at max, and you can turn it down if you find the fan noisy (although I honestly think it's nearly inaudible from inside the case).

Regarding the Mechatronics fan. Of course results vary depending on circumstances, but someone I talked to with an AX-7 and the Mechatronics also had a 20degree difference between mobo and CPU temps. Even supposing his results aren't reflective of typical behaviour, I don't imagine it'll do more than a degree or two better than the Enermax, and without a rheostat you won't be able to adjust the noise if you find it to be loud.

If you have the money, buy a Vantec Stealth (quiet as a Panaflo, @ 30 cfm) . A Panaflo should cool fine if you aren't overclocking, maybe a little hotter than you want. I'm planning on using an Antec 34 cfm, 30dBA. I overclock a bit though.
