Hey guys,

I've been looking at external enclosures for an older 320gb IDE drive and could use some help. My brother lost the power supply for the external enclosure the hard drive use to be in and they don't make that enclosure anymore. Any suggestions? Of course, cheaper options are always welcome :). Thanks.

The external enclosure that used to house the hard drive is iomega 320 ldhd320-u. Does anybody know if this power supply that I found on ebay is the correct one for that external enclosure? Model: DA-30C01, P/N: 30941701, 5-PIN Plug. Seems correct but I've been burned before ordering one of these off ebay.

Hmm. Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at that one too. That may be my choice.

It's a good idea not to spend too much money since external HDDs are cheap now-a-days. Loweest I've seen is $.06/GIG. You'll need to know the voltage and amperage of the missing power brick. Look up the model number of the enclosure online. However, chances are it's probably 12 volt. Once you find it, all you'll need is a similar power brick. You can buy it or you can ghetto it.

Luckily there's a ton of cell phone chargers out there. If you can find one that is of the same voltage and rated for the same or more amperage all you'll need to do next is find a way to adapt the other end to the external enclosure. You can either try to find a cheap plug somewhere or just solder it taking note of the polarity.

Best of luck.

Yeah I know. I definitely don't want to spend too much on an enclosure. It's what I get when I lend it to my brother and his roommates use it and lose the power supply.
