Need Suggestions for DDR Memory

After 2 long years, I've decided to upgrade this machine's RAM to 2GB. Using the Kingston memory detector, I seem to need DDR non-ECC type. I currently run on 512MB (2x256MB).

I was looking at some prices and noticed there's a significant jump from PC-3200 to PC-4000, could somebody explain why? (I know DDR is outdated... it's just that I won't be buying a new PC for prolly a year). Also, I want Dual-Channel mem, so what kind of impact will that have on the price?

Any deals that you guys know that I could use? What about brands? Right now I'm pretty much OCZ vs Kingston (Kingston winning because it's cheaper).

So there ya have it. Suggestions?

EDIT: I'd like to keep the price at sub-$150.

Run CPU-Z and check your current chipset timings and memory frequency/voltage.

G-Skill above seems like a good choice, but the timings are tighter than the standard timings for the OEM PC 3200 (I believe 3-3-3-8), so it would not make any difference since the RAM timings on an OEM motherboard are not adjustable.

And I hope that G.Skill would work with relaxed timings - it is always a good idea to match the OEM chipset specs.

Again, verify what you have now, and try to match the frequencies/timings/voltage of the new RAM to the one that you are running now.

I'd suggest jumping to Newegg and grabbing their cheapest; Crucial.com's website will tell you exactly what speed you need, so jump there, find out what you need, jump to newegg, and get their cheapest that satisfies that need.

Thanks for the help guys!

Per CPU-Z's reading (really great program btw, i found out more about my system in 3 minutes than the last few days when I've been trying to figure out what upgrades i can buy) I have 3-3-3-8 timing. Crucial said that it does not have any items compatible for my particular system ='(

That voltage for the G Skill is kind of high.. the mobo is a MICRO-STAR MS-7184, chipset ATI Xpress 200 (RS480). Justageek, if you don't mind explaining, what would potentially happen if I don't match the voltage/timings?

Thanks for your help guys. I appreciate it.

It's going to read the SPD on the chip anyway to set timings, so I wouldn't worry too much about timings - just get standard 3200 RAM and you'll be find. I saw a-data had some for $94 shipped....

I saw that A-Data ram too, but it's the first time I've heard of them... Should I not worry about brand at all? I saw some APIDA on clearance for $39.99 (warranty sucks though..). Has anyone here tried A-DATA?
