THANKS!

summary

1. HSF
2. under $20
3. for barton 2500+
4. newegg only

I'm assuming you're not overclocking. If that's the case, people have suggested the Speeze Falconrock which can be had for less than $20. I have never owned one though.

honestly i believe a heatsink is one of the most important parts in a computer even at stock speed. buying used through this forum for the price stated may be possible for a slk800a

i fully agree with jen the hsf is one of the most critical components in a modern pc spend 30 and get a zalman cnps700 cu-al that will do it.
be warned i have lost a mb before due to hot temps the caps around the cpu popped

I just got the Zalman 7000A-AlCu and I really like it. It is much quieter than my old Volcano 6, and is compatible with pretty much every socket out there so you can use it on your next computer as well.

It's a bit more expensive than you were hoping for, @ about $30-$35

I bought mine here (walked in to the store, not online).

If you think of going this route, be sure to check the Zalman website to make sure your MB is compatible. You may also need to check your case to make sure the heatsink will clear the PSU.

I'm sure there will be many other good suggestions.

Good luck!
