need suggestions for an english paper UPDATED

I need to do a paper tonight for my Expository Writing course. The paper is relatively short (3 pages). The subject of the paper is songs that sound happy, but the lyrics actually are not ( like Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones) or vice versa (happy lyrics in a sad song). Anyone know of a good song to do that meets this criteria?

Thanks for the suggestions, i have spent a great deal of time thinking about this but have been unable to come up with anything good.

EDIT:OK, apparently the paper does not have to be about a song, it can be about a poem, story, or painting also. Anyone have any ideas on these topics?

Thanks in advance ATOT!

Fine, I'll start.

You could argue that the Robby McFerrin song "Don't worry, be happy" is really the incoherent, drunken ramblings of a terminally depressed sociopath that no matter how hard he tries, cannot find happiness or seem to cope with everyday life. It's his way of "coping" and hiding his affliction.

OR

You could argue that Paranoid by Black Sabbath is really one man's way of avoiding the celebrity life. For though he truly enjoys the attention lavished on him by adoring fans, he has to pretend he hates it in order to sell more records. Remember: Dysfunction sells records!!!

We'll pull out the nasty stuff later.

Ironman by Sabbath? Kind of a sad story but sounds upbeat (i don't think that is the right word to use)

Ben Folds - Rockin' the Suburbs...it's an upbeat sounding song, but the lyrics are very critical of the music industry of late.

Only thing that comes to mind would be Depeche Mode songs, The Smiths, or The Cure.... someone already mentioned the last two though. I second it.

danny~!

Ring around the rosy is about the black death. Widely known children's rhyme but it seems hardly anyone ever knows its meaning.

please make sure you write the paper in chunk form

haha, i read that thread. I have no clue what that format is either.

Damn, this is a pretty tough paper to start off college with. Especially considering it is for a 100 level class.

Looks like I am going to be doing the song Beatles-Tell me why. I'll let you know how it works out (and i'll be sure to use the chunk form)
