Need suggestions for a sound card that is XP compatible

Need to upgrade my old Diamond MX300 sound card with one that is XP compatible. I just need a rather basic card that has a game port. Any suggestions? Thanks

What would you consider a "basic" sound card?

Well, I was going to recommend a TB Santa Cruz card, but it's certainly more than "basic". Take a look at the Hot Deals forums, as I saw a post about a TBSC for $10 after pricematch and rebate. Excellent sound, 6 speaker support with VERSAjack, etc.

As far as basic sound cards are concerned, you probably couldn't go wrong with some of Creative's lower end cards (if all you need is 2 speaker and gameport support).

I like the Cmedia 8738-based soundcards that my local computer store has for under $10! For $40(on sale), the Santa Cruz is a great card.

you should be able to get a SB Live! bare card in fs/t for under 20

Hercules Fortissimo III, SB Live! 5.1, Abit AU10, and Turtle Beach Santa Cruz would all be excellent choices.
