You are a line manager of a telecommunications firm. The firm is experiencing significant loss of market share and is trying to retain its dwindling client base by reducing prices to business customers. This lose of revenue has impacted the firm in many ways. First, there has been a 50% reduction in spending for research and development. In turn, the top software engineers and designers are threatening to leave. Second, the company has announced an additional 5,000 employees across the organization will be laid off. This would bring the year to date lay offs to 12,000 employees. In addition, all technical training has been postponed until first quarter of 2003.
Problem:
As a line manager of a software development group, the current announcements are particularly disturbing to you and your team. Your problem is this: Describe how you will engage your staff to increase productivity, meet the known deadlines and remain with the organization in these tough times
I need a few good ideas on how to get it started. No idea about what I am going to write about on how to increase productivity.
thanks in advance
